I had the same issue with Molly when we brought her home from the shelter. Always pee'd inside, made me crazy! The things that I found worked were:

1. If she did PP inside, I took the soaked paper towel out with her and said PP outside. Obviously she didn't have to go because she just did but the PP outside command and her own PP scent helped.

2. I always took her out after a lot of playing, after eating, or anytime we took her on an outing. Right outside and said PP outside.

3. I carried treats in my pocket and when did actually pee outside she got huge praise for "good PP" and some treats - give the praise and treats immediately or they don't get it.

I remember crying with happiness when she finally "got it". For some reason she thought I wanted her to go PP in the kitchen. Being calm is a huge thing. I know its hard when you are frustrated.

Well, I've decided that Peggy is a superstar. She has just run into the kitchen, and didn't come back in a few seconds so I went to see where she was. She was stood on the back mat at the rear door.

I said "Do you want to go out?" at which point she pawed at the door. I opened it, and she ran straight out and did a poo!!

Brilliant progress, I'm so proud of her

Hello Ian,

Generally you shouldn't start house breaking Peggy until she is 10 to 12 weeks old and totally acclimated to your home.

I recently published an article at ezine.com on Beagle housebreaking:
Beagle Training - How To Housebreak Your Beagle For Good!

I recommend crate training for housebreaking and you can read all about that on my website:
