Default Re: Dog Food Information Sites

I'm in the process of switching my 2 Beagle's food as well. These sites were helpful. My decision is between Blue Buff and Orijen. I'm leaning towards Blue Buff after more research. My dogs do not hunt and are active, but not working active. Walks twice a day and running around the house with my kids is the extent of their activity. Orijen is High protein and no grain and since they are having problems with Taste of the Wild, I'm thinking Orijen will not be a good move with them, but I could be wrong. Orijen advertises fit for human consumption meaning, that all the ingredients are just like what we buy in the store, blue buff is human-grade meaning, up until a point it was the same quality as we would buy, but no longer fresh when the processing began. Orijen you have to order and Blue Buff can be bought in stores.

As an update, Ginger's been on Orijen Puppy. She is very healthy and her coat is beautiful. The only downside that I could see is that her stool's not very solid, harder to pick up. To solve this issue, I've been adding a tiny bit of lower grade food from Petsmart to every meal. That seem to resolve that issue. I'm very happy with Orijen!

Now, of course, Ginger is almost a year old, I am going to revisit her food choice and see if I should stick with Orijen or change to something else, like Innova Evo.

Default Food Issues

My 3 girls are all on Wellness Core... 2 are on the low-fat and 1 is on the Ocean (she's skinny). I use Science Diet TD (prescription) for their treats, maybe 2 or 3 pieces a day (it helps keep the teeth clean). Everything is going very well! A couple of times a week, I also add no-salt-added canned green beans with a spoonful of canned pumpkin to their kibble - they LOVE that! (Pumpkin helps keep the poop firm, too.) Oh, and Oprah has lost 10 pounds like this - woo hoo!

Default Great Website for Pet Food!

I found a great website for ordering my pets' food: Dog Food - DoggieFood.com. They carry premium brands like Blue Buffalo and Orijen (and many more) and the prices are excellent. I paid $49 for Wellness Core and it's $63 at my local store. Make sure you look at the "Promotions" section, this is where the help comes for those of us with multiple pets: Free shipping on orders over $200! You can pool your order with friends and neighbors if you don't need four 26 pound bags of food yourself.

Default Dog Food Information Sites

Hello....................

What are some good, viable sites to find information on dog food ingredients, canned vs dry, whats best for the dogs digestive tract, etc. Personal experience is also good. Thanks!!

Site .........

dogware.com
godfoodproject.com

Unlike many here I do NOT like the analysis website. I think it's outdated and doesn't have good solid information.

Ace is on Orijen but he gets raw food as well.
I like Orijen because the poop is firm and
much less. Before he had Health Extension , got it from the breeder but I had to order it on line and only the shipping was $ 14, and there was more carb in it.
Here in LA I can buy Orijen, some places carry it. I'm satisfied. I also like Honest Kitchen. Small box but you can make a lot of meals from it. I use the Thrive and put some extra meat in it.
