Default About Boh's butt.....

It never ends. Boh recovered from the anal sac abscess on the left side. At his follow-up, the vet expressed as much as he could on the right side, but I suspected the sac would be problematic. I watched him like a hawk. Kept checking his rear. On Friday night he started licking. By Saturday morning it was red and swollen. Took him back to the vet Saturday. (Different vet. Same Practice.) She did not want to attempt to express it at that point. Said she could't say it wouldn't rupture. He is on a different antibiotic - Clindamycin and back on Vetprofen. It did rupture, but not as bad as last time. UGH!

Mr. Boh gets a real attitude too. I gave him his pills. Put hot compresses on his butt and applied ointment. He was snuggling on the couch, with my daughter - looking kinda sad. I knelt down to talk to him. The little snark stuck his nose up in the air and turned his back on me. I talked to him and he grumbled in response. That's the thanks I get. lol!

I do have a tad good news. The left side is fine and did not even need to be expressed. I'm hoping the right side will clear up as well. He goes for a follow-up in 2 weeks.

Poor thing hopefully the antibiotics will clear up the issue. So much love the pills, the hot compresses and ointment and you get a nose in the air and his back turned to you.. quite the little attitude but then again they are full of personality. Hopefully in the 2 weeks all will be good and you will no longer be on butt patrol.

Thank you! I hope so too. Yep, with the 'tude. That's why we call him 'Mr. Snarky.' LOL!
Butt patrol stinks - in every way. HA!

Odie also goes about once every 8 to 9 weeks to get his expressed. We have added pure pumpkin and bran buds to his diet in hopes the glands would start to express enough on their own but no luck. Since he is now on a low fat diet we are starting to add green vegetables.. green beans, broccoli.. maybe that will help

Same here - All Bran and pumpkin. It doesn't help that he is on his second round a antibiotics. I am including plain yogurt, right now too.

I hope Odie gets straightened out. It really isn't fun for our guys - or us.
