Hi all, my baby boy is 7 months old and my other baby (my beagle Sheeba) is 3 yrs old. She does not like my son at all. We thought she just needed some time getting used to the baby but its been seven months and she is still not interested. She gets jealous and tries to compete for my attention. She hasn't shown any aggression but just behaves out of sorts. Any suggestions on how to get my beagle to accept the new addition to our family?

Maybe you could play some games with Sheeba and sort of include your son. Do some fun training with treats and pets and have your son right there as part of the fun. Also do you all go for walks together? Your son the stroller and Sheeba by your side. Might feel more like a pack if you all go together.

Age will balance things out. I have 2 two year old beagles and an 18 month old granddaugther. The beagles have always been jealous of the grand baby and probably always will be but they have not ever been aggressive to the child. Now that the baby is getting mobile they actually play together. The puppies do, however, fight for lap time and they sit below the high chair at dinner time (beagles love the hand that drops the food).
