Hello
![]() My family purchased a Beagle in June and now he's coming up to being nine months old. He's always been a big dog, and as we kept him in extremely good shape he was trim and very healthy. But it seems he may be too tall!, He's about 18" tall at nine months, so even if he does not grow anymore he's still 2" inches above the taller breed standard. He's quite muscular, but lacks the 'Barrel-Chest' look of the Beagle as well. We are not sure if he's KC registered (we haven't done a transfer of ownership) but we know his dam was (Mothers Kennel name, Lady Tess) Is this normal for some beagles? or could it mean he isn't a pure Beagle? :/ His Kennel name is 'Popular Milo', his dam was 'Lady Tess' and his Sire was 'My Pepe'. I'll post some pictures and hope you guys can help me! ![]() His mom is registered under the KC not AKC, as we're in Britain. ![]() ![]() Joel Last edited by JFraser; 12-30-2012 at 12:43 PM. |

Oh I get so fed up when I keep getting comments on walks about how big he is.
Beagles come in all shapes and sizes that's what makes them great. I think your little guy looks beagle. He is still very young and will fill out. |

that's certainly comforting to hear. Most people i've spoke to seems adamant that he's a cross with a Harrier, Foxhound or even a Coon hound!
i've always thought he's a prime example of a Beagle! was your beagle similiar at this age? with the long legs and thin chest? |

We don't know if our new friend is pure bred or not...the humane society called him a mix with possibly Harrier...I say maybe or maybe not, but he's a great dog...I don't know if there's any way to tell without a paper trail & shouldn't matter... Btw.. Our Snoop is very long legged too & doesn't have rear dew claws..

He looks like a fox hound to me. Did you get him from an assured breader? If he's not KC registered and you have no papers I doubt he's pure bread. You should also expect to pay £800 for a pup in UK
