My beagle is just over 3 years old and when I let him off the lead in the park, which I seldom do, he will just wander off and follow other dogs and won't answer me when I try call him back. Does anyone else have this problem and how can I get him to come back to me? Thanks

The classic way is to get a 30 foot leash and lots of treats in your pocket.
Let him wander to close to the end of the leash and call him back. When he comes praise him to high heaven and give him a treat. Do this for a few minutes then put him back on your regular leash. Every time you call him to come to you make a big fuss and if you still have a treat in you pocket give it to him. Repeat daily if you can until he does this reliably. techie |
