Default protective/ jealous beagle

jack has stated to become incredibly jealous of any human coming near me if they do he had to sit on my lap or sit in between us and push them away my partner works long hours so its mostly just been me him and our other pets but when i do have other people round the hose he must be the one closest to me ive never had this with any other breed of dog ive owned they are happy to have attention of any of the visitors or just watch from somewhere in the room is this normal beagle behavour or is he just a really big mummies boy or am i spoiling him to much

If he isn't growling or snapping, but just shoving his way in, then he is jealous but not dangerously jealous. My Molly is like that if Vazzle comes near me, Molly has to climb on me and push Vazzle away. I try not to let her do it. You can pick him up and move him to the floor or the other end of the sofa and tell him to stay. he will get it after awhile. Beagles do generally like to be close to us, sometimes laying at our feet, by the bed etc.
