Default Ear length

I've read many different beagle books as well as several dog websites about breed info and all say that a beagle's ears should reach to nearly the end of their nose. Our beagle's ears reach to just where his nose begins. How long are your beagle's ears? Just curious to see if the "nearly to the end of the nose" is just a relative term, like could it also mean to "end of the muzzle"? If that's so, then his ears are just right by judging standards, but they certainly don't go to the tip.

In judging standards I think it's to the tip. Boomers goes to his lips I think, they seem real short to me. :-)

So cute! I must admit, I am in LOVE with Chloe's ears (all Beagles, actually, but since there are no others around me....)! I cant recall how long they are right now, but I don't think they touch the tip of her nose....they are just perfect!

Ally didn't mind me going and wrapping her ears around her head. She's half asleep and couldn't care less that's going on around her.

Her ears go right to where her nose starts... so not quite to the tip, but close enough!

Frank's go to about 1/2" beyond the corner of his mouth, or about 1/2" shy of the beginning of his nose. Definitely on the shorter end, but not any shorter than those I've seen on other beagles.

I love Tucker's ears, too, even if they don't go to the end of his nose (bah to the AKC, LOL!). I love to pet them the best, so silky soft :-)

Mixer isn't a full beagle (although she looks and acts ALL beagle) so her ears don't do all the way to her nose, they barely touch where her mouth starts. But when she was a puppy they went all the way to her nose, its like she grew into her ears. lol

Sophie's ears are long - about a quarter to half inch past the end of her nose. So soft . . . my youngest (just became a teen - lots of adolescent angst) claims that "beagle ears are made for wiping tears"
