Just measured Peggy for height as well, nearly 17 inches to the shoulder. I am starting to think that this Beagle / Foxhound cross is more Foxhound than Beagle!

I have found that some Beagles can be free fed and they only eat when they are ready and only the amount they need. The less energetic ones are the ones that seem to need to have their food portioned out and fed on a stricter schedule. Those are the ones that I feed twice a day and I keep my eye on their weight. If they start putting on extra pounds I cut back on the portions and increase it if they could use a little more meat on their bones.

I feed all of my dogs using the John Miller method. Here's a link if you're interested: www.freebeagletraining.com/go/healthydogfood

We have three beagles. Our two females are smaller and each weigh around 18-19lb. Our male is about 31lb. All three are pretty good weights, though our male really should lose a couple more pounds. LOL I've always been told that in a healthy weight dog there should be a distinct waistline and that the ribs should be able to be felt but not seen. Your vet will be able to give you specific guidance in relation to your pup.

See, I was worried about priscilla's weight..she weighs in at about 30lbs...but honestly, she is built like a brick outhouse.....she is very dense and stocky

Now my girlfriends aunt's beagle is a whole other story...he is the biggest beagle I have ever seen. He's defientley a beagle (he still lives with his mom and dad..both beagles) but I swear he stands about 19 inches and weighs about 45-50lbs

He is huge, but he is 100% beagle

Peggy was weighed at the vets tonight when she went for her second injection.

At nearly 15 weeks she is now 12.5kg, that's up over 2kg in 9 days. Vet seemed pleased with that.

He has a healthy appetite and will eat anything in sight, he also never sits still.
Your picture of Roscoe makes me laugh! So cute! On the coffee table?

Ha ha, thanks! Yes, that is the coffee table. We moved the sofa away from the windows b/c it go too crazy with the dogs and the windows (we have so many critters outside!). So, they now try to see out the window from the coffee table. Cole has even fallen asleep on top of the coffee table.

We didn't buy all of our furniture for us, its for the beagles!!

Just a quick update on Peggy's weight, she is going to be so big!

She's now around 4 and a half months old and weighs 18kg! Vet is now guessing closer to 40kg when fully grown
