Default Lucky escape

Baxter had a very lucky escape yesterday. I got home after leaving him for a couple hours to find that he had shredded the extension cord leading to the washing machine and fridge. The cable was in tatters and the plug was still in the wall switched on and with the wires hanging out. Baxter is 8 months old now and has been in the utility room whenever we are out since he joined us when he was 10 weeks old; he has never done anything like this before.

When I got to him he was looking very nervy and was keen to run out into the garden as soon as the door was open for him; when he came in he went straight into his crate and looked sheepish the rest of the day.

I don't know whether he got a shock or not but it was a miracle that it didn't kill him.

I had to alter the socket so that he can no longer get at it but the lesson learned is that in those moments of boredom beagles can get into all sorts of trouble. His new nickname is Frazzle because he very nearly was!

Good grief I hope Baxter learnt his lesson without too much of a shock! Someone said to me early on in my beagle-owning life "A bored Beagle is a dangerous Beagle" how very true!
