Hi folks,
So there has been progress and Biscuit is not biting and tugging the leash during walks as much. It pretty much came down to me rewarding her more when she's walking properly. When I was using the "Leave it" technique, she was only getting treats after biting the leash and letting go. But now she gets treats without that behavior. My coworker (who owns a beagle as well) recommended the Halti as well. Biscuit would NOT have that. I couldn't even get it on her! So I didn't even get to test it out. I had to return it. But it's fine because it's working out without the Halti anyway. Hope this helps someone else out there! I know I'm relieved now that I've found a way to resolve this without having to get a 3rd leash before she's even 4 months old. |

That is wonderful that you are seeing progress! Patience and persistence pays off

I've discovered that a soda can with a bunch of pennies inside and then taped shut will REALLY get a Beagle's attention! Only Chloe still needs a lot of correction, but when you shake that can hard and say "NO" then she always stops what she's doing. (Then you say "good girl.") Good luck!!
