Yeah. I have two bunnies, so I think that helps my two to remember to leave bunnies alone. Had a hard time training my previous shepherd not to chase squirrels, but she never messed with the rabbits.

Boh is pretty conditioned to leave the wildlife alone. I have to keep a closer eye on Shelby.

Can't imagine how you would train a beagle not to kill rabbits, that is overriding everything that has been intentionally bred into them.

Some dogs have higher prey drive than others. I think one thing that saves critters from Boh, is his nose. lol! I have an upper level deck with a gate. I keep the gate shut, unless I am in the yard with the dogs. They can be on the deck, with the gate shut. If Boh sees something, he starts to bark, which warns critters off, before I let him into the yard. By the time he gets down the stairs, he has lost sight of the critter, so he starts tracking. Fun to watch him follow his nose. By the time he is done, the critter is long gone.

Shelby, the shepherd actually seems to have a higher prey drive than Boh. Beagle and JRT, I'd have thought Boh would be worse. Go figure. Maybe too, it is having two rabbits living in the house. They are not allowed to bother the rabbits. And some rabbits are scary.

If piper is in the house she will bay at rabbits, if in the park she will stalk quietly. Most of the rabbits dumb enough to be in the dog park manage to make it through the fence, but a beagle is a pretty fair match in speed and agility. This one was apparently dug out of a burrow.

Well, that's probably a big part of the problem. Boh doesn't bay and he can't howl. He tries. He can't. He has the horrible high pitched JRT yap. Dear God, I wish he could bay. lol!

Oh...paaaaleeeze...if you want to hear that noise get to California. ..Cassie will be glad to give you a demonstration. She sure made plenty of noise at 2 fat mallard ducks that landed in her yard.
We haven't had rabbits but lots of lizards. I've seen the legs hanging out of her mouth but she doesn't eat them.
