Default First day of puppy class!

So Wednesday night was Toby's first puppy training class. Went to the local Petsmart with the wife and our 13 year old daughter. As soon as we got there, Toby had his tail down and kept running under my chair when the other two pups in the class ran up to him. I told my wife "He's terrified, let him be for a couple of minutes." I got him to sit, gave him a treat, and he seemed to calm down. Came out from under the chair and became a little more social.

Once the instructor came in and passed out the clickers we'd be using for training Toby stole the show. It took about 3 tries for him to associate the clicker with a treat. Every time the instructor clicked her clicker, Toby (or in this case Benedict Arnold/Judas) would leave us and go running to her, sit down, and wait for his treat. All the calling from us wouldn't make him budge. Everyone was laughing because it happened every time. Whoever clicked, got Toby's attention and got him to run over and sit without being asked. We became just another person with a clicker.

Oh yeah, it's going to be a fun class!

Training classes are the best! We even take our adult rescue dogs to basic obedience classes. Have fun!
