how do those in the group who work at least one full time job and maybe a second part time job manage to walk their dogs a total of 6 hours a day? I am finding that Dillon is actually requiring more walks as he grows to adulthood. As a young puppy, escpecially before he completed his vaccinations, his only exercise was running around the back yard-and he was fine with that. As he's getting older, he seems to really need those 2 daily walks. I only work 4 or sometimes 5 days a month at most, but even with that I can't see myself walking for 2 hours at a time and repeating that 3 times a day, every day. Even if I wasn't 62 years old-6 hours every day just seems undoable to me-with any breed. In fact, even young athletic people I know don't walk their dogs that much. Am I depriving him?

Well I wake up at 330am to walk mine.
You just have to do what you can if it works great. If not you change your routine to what works. Unfortinitly often times many people can not adapt a differnt lifestyle or the dog can't adopt to their lifesyle. When that happens animals are rehomed, given up or other situation.

If someone knows ahead of time that a beagle puppy or dog could very well need a lot of excersie then they go in knowing that if 2 hours excersie isn't working and the dog have behavioral issues and needs more excersie then they are going to be more willing to be able to adapt to it.

If your dogs are happy, well adjusted and in good shape bingo. your good.

Although breeds have a guideline each dog will have a differnt personalyity. Sometimes just getting through adolesance will be enough. I have seen older beagles and they seem so happy and calm.... I keep waiting for that day. lol

I just never in 62 years of life knew ANYONE of any age, gender, race or lifestyle that consistently walked their dogs for SIX HOURS every day! That is amazing-even for someone who isn't working 2 jobs. I am just awed. You must be in excellent physical condition with all that walking. If you do the early walk from say 4am until 6am, do you get a 2 hour lunch break from work to manage the afternoon 2 hour walk, and then at night when you come home you do the third 2 hour walk? When do you find time to cook, clean house, do laundry, eat, and all the things that take up chunks of daily time? Are you from a European country? I have heard that other countries often have a couple hour lunch break. Working in health care in America, you get 30 minutes and that's it. I believe office workers MAY get an hour, but I don't think they get longer. That would be awesome though. It would make dog ownership so much easier.

HAHAHA no but we are a 4 person family. The kids help with water/feeding stuff. My BF does all the cleaning and cooking. And my dogs do not get 2hrs 3 times a day. I am saying that is what they need. But yes my dogs do get 2 long walks over an hour plus I use a doggie day care a couple times a month. I also have winlderness so if the walk is only 30 minutes Boomer was in hunting mode which does more mentally then physicly and mental tiredness is more fullfilling then just a walk. But they are crated when no one is there becuase they will tear up stuff becuase they still have energy to burn. And they have cats for their chasing enjoyment-dont worry the cats are bigger then the chihuahua and almost bigger then the beagle haha. Yea it's sad my cats can control the dogs but they play also.

When I was unemployed and had Brandy I took her for 8 hour walks. I picked her up in the monring and brought her back in the evening. She was staying at a friends house becuase I couldnt bring her into my home at the time. Then when I got married and moved across county I took her with me.

That makes more sense. I was basing what I said on your answer to this young man-that the dog would need 3 two hour walks a day-morning afternoon and evening. As I said I never knew anyone who consistently had that kind of time each day. Now that I'm partially retired, I probably would have the time, I just don't know if this old body would continue to do it!

walking 6 hours a day with my dog doesn't seem my hobby. though I really love my dog because he is so caring and always kiss me at my feet . I don't have the chance to walk with him even in our back yard.so, if you give time to your dog that's great.!

giving 6 hours of time to you dog is a big sacrifice in your time. I don't even have the chance to walk with my dog though I really love him so much. !

Walking a dog for SIX hours, each day,EVERY day, on a consistent basis is not only impractical, it's practically unheard of.
