from myneighboor. Said the people in the back of the complex are loking for the person who helps the animals.
![]() They got evicted and need help placing their animals. 3 cats-only one fixed. 2 dogs, one they would prefer to pts since it's 14 years old. They are keeping the other dog since she just gave birth. So add that up. I have 2 days to find a place for 5 animals all but one are not vetted and even that one needs to be checked. trust me in 6 months I will be called to place the 4 puppies and guessing the dog will be pregnt again at that time. I was trying to help them gt their pets to the vet, but they ended up evicted so now my time is very short. PLease spay and neuter... it makes clean up and rescue that much easier.

I agree, as one who has done foster and rescue for many years! However, these new studies about the proper age to do so are still giving me some concern. I am researching it and have called every vet in my area. I actually finally found a few who not only are aware of the studies but give some credence to them. The local animal shelter now spays and neuters as young as 6 weeks-or 2 pounds, whichever comes first. This is done soley because the old system of giving people vouchers to bring them back at 6 months wasn't working. Many people were too lazy to follow through with it. The long term side effects studies said that shelter animals were not factored in because unlike people's personal pets, shelter animals were considered "A population" rather than an individual dog or cat! It all stills comes back to the sorry owners!

I agree - there are so many unwanted pets!!!! Also, I wish that people would turn their animals in to a rescue organization or even the pound instead of dumping them in 'the country'. And the 'summer people' who get a puppy or kitten 'for the season' and then dump them when they are ready to leave. . . . sometimes even throwing them from a moving car!
Even the shelters that euthanize are better than abandoning a pet. At least it is painless - especially compared to starving, being hit by a car, or attacked and eaten by predators (we have coyotes, bears, bobcats . . .) We try to catch and help as many as we can. Sometimes we are not fast enough. And there are still a tremendous number of pets who need a home. For example, one foster mom is thrilled that she 'only' has 8 dogs (all of whom she keeps in the house). She has had more. Please, please, please. Spay and neuter. Be responsible. |

thanks guys. I was able to save one cat so far. going to cost me for vetting but I will get some back with the adopter. I have a wonderful family who doesn't mind when I use grocery money for this stuff.
I contacted over 25 rescues and none can help. Mine can if I foster and I am topped out on animals in the home. Lately I havn't been so mad at the people for not taking care of the pets as much as I am geting mad at the orginal person who allowed the first one to breed to create what I am dealing with now. Had that one person spay/neutered. I am also mad at the source that allowed an unaltered pet to be adopted. Or the source that didn't check the adopter out to ensure the right fit. It has to stop somewere, someone has got to make it stop. The only way to a no kill nation is to be a no birth nation. (yea stole that). Every litter needs to be implanted with a microchip with breeder (purpose or accidental) so that animal never goes to rescue or a shelter but mandatory goes back to breeder who must alter at their own expense the animal, house and care for it until a home arrives. Let make these people who have litters responsible for their offspring for life. *stepping carefully off my soapbox*

I agree with you 100%!!!!
Someone has to take responsibility!!!! I get so angry at people who adopt 'pure bred' animals - often from the pound or unwary rescuers - and then use them to breed puppies to make money. They don't screen prospective homes - and don't even know or care enough about the different breeds to have healthy pups. By the way, There is talk about creating an animal abuse registry (much like the child abuse registry and the sex offender registry). If convicted, the abuser would not be allowed to own any animals for a minumum of 10 years. |

Many pounds still allow unaltered animals out which is of course not good.
There is an animal abuse data base but not quite like the offenders one. Database of Criminal Animal Cruelty Cases | Pet-Abuse.Com Animal Cruelty Database

This would be a true registry, with penalties
Public hearing tonight about Albany County Animal Abuse Registry - Animal rights… - timesunion.com - Albany NY "Anyone selling or adopting an animal in the county will be required to check the database before giving an animal to a person. Anyone selling, adopting or giving an animal to a person in the database may be fined. Anyone convicted of animal abuse would be on the registry for ten years; anyone convicted of a second animal abuse would be on the registry for life" |
