Last November we adopted our beagle, Monte, who came from a research lab in North Carolina that was closed down after it was found they were abusing the animals. Our beagle was used for experiments and was also abused by the uncaring staff. At first he was very fearful and shy. It took a lot of patience and understanding but we couldn't be happier with our dog now. He needed to experience many things for the first time like your dog. It has been a wonderful experiencing things along with him. This has been his first summer in the outdoors. He loves to sit in the sun and I can't help thinking of how he was deprived of sun for the first 2 years of his life. Yes the housebreaking has been a challenge. For 2 years he just relieved himself in his cage. But I will exchange a few messes in the house for all the love he has brought into our home.
