I agree with all of the above comments. The pup needs to be taken out more times to use the bathroom when he is learning. I know that's hard with a job and all. I started potty training my girls the first day I got them when they were 8 weeks old. I got them on a Saturday morning and literally took them out every 30 minutes during the day for them to get the hang of it. It's very important that he doesn't associate going outside to the bathroom with play time. When you take him out, take him to the same place every time. Make sure that it's not in the same area that he plays. Also make sure that he knows where to go in the house to let you know that he needs to go out. i.e. use the same door every time. Get him on a strict eating/drinking schedule.
For the next month is there anyway that someone could come home mid-morning and mid-afternoon to let him out in addition to the other breaks? He should have the hang of it by then and will be able to hold his bladder longer.
For the most part, it took my girls about a week to be trained. Of course they still had accidents every now and then. They are two now, and though it is rare, they still have accidents from time to time. He's going to have accidents. Have faith in him and be persistent and patient. He will learn and he will be the apple of your and your husband's eye. Good luck!!!!
